Zaironazwan Zainal or better known as Azwanjjai, is truly one of a kind. His Komik Ronyok strips have created so much buzz online over the past year and he has, to date, amassed over 200 thousand followers on Facebook alone. This is quite an astonishing figure for a comic artist here in Malaysia.
A compilation of his comics has been released by Maple Comics. The first volume contains existing comic strips that were previously published online. The second one however has about 50% new material that should get fans excited. It also includes some of his comic strips that were deleted online as they were heavily criticised or deemed too controversial.
The 22-year-old genius hails from Kuching, Sarawak and is currently completing his Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan at Kampus Sultan Mizan, Besut, Terengganu. He says that he has no plans to be a full-time comic artist though.
Why do people love Komik Ronyok?
We believe one of the key elements that make Komik Ronyok very popular is its simplicity. The comic strips are simple enough for anyone to read yet contain some underlying messages that are thought-provoking. The drawings are also clean with very good use of colour throughout.
Both volumes of Komik Ronyok are available at most major bookstores nationwide and priced at RM20 each. It is in full colour and has over a hundred pages of his work. You can also buy them online at Maple Comics online store.
